Looking for an African Renaissance

The shape and health of African States is one of our major research interests in JEFCAS. In this new introductory text ‘Politics in Africa’, Nana Poku and I explore the history and political economy of Africa. We also highlight agriculture, gender and health as the key challenges to which African states, leaders and peoples must rise. Aid, poor leadership and international interference have manipulated and undermined African states, without lurching back to imagined traditions we ask where can the hope of an African Renaissance be found?
